Keeping Up with History

Did you know that our beautiful Tearoom was built in 1930? It was crafted from just $300 worth of wood purchased from a torn-down schoolhouse in Texas City by a Mr. and Mrs. Joachimi. These days, that amount of wood purchase wouldn’t build much more than a few steps! We are grateful to continue the heartfelt traditions that first created our Tearoom by purchasing what is now the Silver Sycamore over 70 years later. We have carefully restored it to as much of its original state as we could. But thanks to modern technology, some improvements were made along the way and we were able to add on a restroom and a spacious kitchen in the back of the Tearoom. This is where our talented cooking staff produces the gourmet menu enjoyed by both regular and first-time visitors. We still serve up traditional tearoom sandwiches plus extras, like our dessert menu featuring peach cobbler or chocolate fudge cake. Come on in and sit down for a spell, we’re all about taking the time to enjoy each day to its fullest!
