For the Love of Tradition: Chapter 2

Weddings truly thrive on tradition, from the vows to the cake cutting its all part of a time-honored ceremony honoring the newly joined lives of two people in love. In the second part of our three chapter series, Silver Sycamore explores bouquet trends and super sendoffs that update tradition and bring a bespoke feel to your wedding day with us.

A celebrated trend in the ’70s and ’80s, teardrop bouquets are now reappearing on the matrimonial aisle—but with modern updates on the retro shape. Using bold, contemporary petals and keep the posy’s shape clean and simple. Another detail to keep in mind is the bouquet’s length. The versions of old often had tendrils that nearly swept the floor as the bride proceeded down the aisle, so have your florist clip any wayward ends for a trimmed shape.

Tossing rice as the couple departed their reception is a very old tradition that symbolized fertility and abundance. But as times have progressed, so have the alternatives. After concern arose about birds consuming the raw rice, birdseed and other materials were incorporated into the sendoff. Silver Sycamore brides can choose from a number of ways to have their guests escort them on their way. Have guests toss rose petals (real or fake) as you leave, or pass out small bottles of bubbles for them to blow into the air as you enter your getaway car. Other alternatives include bells, which are rung as the newlyweds make their way out (think wedding bells!), or sparklers—a festive complement for holiday weddings.

Call to schedule your appointment with Silver Sycamore to explore our beautiful four-acre property and find out how we can help you achieve the wedding of your dreams.
